Firefox cannot load “localhost”, while IE can
I installed IIS on a reformatted computer and when trying to access the home page using Firefox I was asked for my username and password. After many tries and permission checkings (check this first!) I used IE and it worked… I googled a little bit and found this solution:
1. Open up Firefox and type about:config in the url field
2. In the Filter Type in ntlm
3. Double click “network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris” and type in localhost and hit enter
After I did that everything worked ok.

thanks..
I think it would be clearer, if you wrote so:
1. Open up Firefox and type in about:config as the url
Thank you!
i try this but still get error messages.
formerly i would like to install wp locally and i do below :
1. turn off my IIS service
2. install xampp (i use winxp)
3. run xampp once finished, try to run apache service.
failed, get the following result :
port 80 … busy
4. uninstall all my messenger ware
5. restart xampp
6. still get the same result.
7. can you help me?
8. thank you.
You can try to run xampp (Apache) using a different port (8080) for example. Try it and let me know.
